Information and Instructions for Applying for the Certification to Secretary of State

Upload the Articles of Incorporation as filed in your home state of organization as a pdf.
Upload stock ownership and Officer/Director/Shareholder information as a .pdf. Stock ownership must total 100%. You may use the form found HERE. You will need to fill out this form, save it to your computer and upload it below under Stock Ownership Information.
After a review of the application the Firm Compliance Administrator will issue the Board’s Certificate for Filing. It must be attached to the Application for Certificate of Authority (form PC-01) and filed with the North Carolina Secretary of State Business Registration Business Registration.
You will receive from the North Carolina Secretary of State a file-stamped Certificate of Authority. Email a copy of that document to the Firm Compliance Administrator tyler@ncbarch.org. Upon receipt, a Firm License will be issued. The firm shall then be entitled to offer and render architectural services in the State of North Carolina. The Certificate for Filing as issued by the Board of Architecture and the Certificate of Authority as issued by the Secretary of State are necessary documents that lead to firm licensure, they do not permit a firm to practice architecture.
